This center is covering an area under jurisdiction of eight police stations in the city covering about thirteen-lac population in 136 different slums. The objective of starting the Cell for Women in Distress was not only to offer immediate services and relief but also to review and study the kind of complaints received and entertained in the crime branch and to decide the nature of work as also future long- term strategy at wider level involving other actors in the society.
